Originally from Nice, William Demy moved to Saint Martin at the age of 40. It was on the Friendly Island that he chose to fulfil a wish his grandfather had once expressed for him.
“When I was young, my grandfather really wanted me to get my pilot's licence,” the flying club's president recalls. His meeting with Yves Blanchet marked a decisive milestone in his training.
“I learned to fly at this flying club,” he explains. The association now bears the name “Les Ailes de Grand Case, Yves Blanchet Flying Club,” in tribute to its founder.
Just over a month after reopening, the Saint Martin flying club already had around twenty members. “We wanted to start slowly, and word of mouth seems to have worked,” William Demy says with delight.
Beyond training, the association enables private pilots to fly regularly, maintain their skills and meet the requirements for keeping their qualifications valid.
Acquiring a new aircraft is a major objective to support the flying club's development and share the passion for flying.
The team that brings our flying club to life.
Thanks to our team's commitment, Les Ailes de Grand Case has resumed theoretical and practical training leading to a pilot's licence. After a long period of inactivity, our association is regaining momentum with a clear ambition: to support new aviation enthusiasts throughout their training and contribute to the development of aviation in Saint Martin.
